Spider-Man is up there as one of my top three comic book characters (Batman and Alana from Saga are the other two, and Alana edged out Daredevil only recently). Because I was introduced to him via his earlier adventures, I had always understood him to be a stand-in for kids like me, or kids like anybody that reads comics in general because Spider-Man was an outcast.

Peter came from a poor neighborhood. He was an orphan. He wasn’t into fashion or music, or movies or any other thing that marks a person as being cool. He liked science (nerd!) and amateur photography (artsy nerd!) and, well, not much else.

Ahead of the June 2013 solicitations, Marvel let us exclsuively in on this gorgeous cover of Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #24 featuring the all-new Ultimate Cloak and Dagger. The issue is part two of "Spider-Man No More" and follows-up on Marquez's take on the classic image associated with that phrase. What role will the new Cloak and Dagger play in Miles Morales's story? We'll see in June.

While I’m usually eager to poke fun at Marvel Comics for their trite, mind numbing events, even I’m slightly impressed by this latest bit of news. According to Bleeding Cool (who’ve been on quite a rumor run over the past few days), Axel Alonso and crew plan to pit Marvel’s main 616 Universe against the Ultimate version. Imagine it… Classic Cap versus Slightly Racist Cap, Classic Hulk vs Gray Rapey Hulk, Classic Thor vs Druggy Hippie Thor… I could go on like this all day.

Not leaving much room for mystery, the news leak claims this massive event will be the end of the Ultimate Universe. While that would effectively wash away the horrors of Ultimatum and Ultimate Comics: Avengers (Vampire Captain America, ’nuff said), we’d be missing out on some great new stories from Miles Morales, who’s essentially the last good thing about the UU.

In 2012, the Ultimate Universe and Marveliverse collided with the meeting of Miles Morales and Peter Parker in "Spider-Men," written by Brian Michael Bendis with art by Sara Pichelli. The series left off just as Peter Parker began researching Miles Morales online in the 616. Today, via his personal Twitter account, Bendis confirmed that a "Spider-Men 2" is planned, answering the question "Are we going to see a spidermen [sic] 2 series?" with "Yes."

While Bendis didn't specify when or how a follow-up series would take place, a "Spider-Men 2" isn't a stretch to imagine occurring as the 2012 series enjoyed both solid sales numbers and critical acclaim. Every installment of the five-issue limited series ranked no less than 4.5 stars by the CBR Reviews Team. The original "Spider-Men" was part of the 50th Anniversary celebration for Spider-Man and was Bendis' first full-on Spider-Man adventure in the Marvel U.
